Identity-based cryptography (IBC), first proposed by Israeli scientists Shamir in1984.Unlike the public and private key pairs of traditional public key system, in IBC, eachentity regard a birthday or e-mail address that can represent their own meaningful string as itsown unique ID, the public key is derived from the ID and private key is generated by the keygeneration center KGC (Key Generator Center), thus the system is no longer depend oncertificates and complex management system such as public key infrastructure (PKI), thengreatly enhancing the operational efficiency. Complete IBC system include two parts,Identity-based encryption (IBE) and identity-based signature (IBS), due to the limit of thecondition at that time, Shamir did not propose a practical IBE system while the idea of IBC wasproposed, just only gives an identity-based signature(IBS) algorithms using the RSA algorithm. This article is inspired by Shamir IBS algorithm proposed two identity-basedauthentication scheme, are separately based on the RSA algorithm and ECC algorithm, based onthe RSA algorithm presents a unified security framework, contains key agreement, signatureverification and encryption algorithms; after taking into account the current trend ofcryptography, This paper further proposes the authentication scheme based on the ECC, andmake a simulation research on the two program by simulation software like OMNeT++.OMNeT++is an important tool for VANET (VANET) simulation. As the current researchfocus, VANET (Vehicle Ad-hoc network, VANET) use the short-distance communication means, such as DSRC technology, make the vehicles convert to mobile wireless nodes and formed awide range of wireless mobile network. Since the vehicle-to-vehicle (vehicle to vehicle, V2V)and vehicle-to-infrastructure (vehicle to infrastructure, V2I) is two typical communicationmodes of the network, so in VANET systems, authentication is the core of the security needs, itprovide the integrity of information and the non-repudiation of communication between the twosides, therefore, this paper decided to make the proposed security solutions used in VANETapplication scenarios that built by OMNeT++and other simulation software to verify thefeasibility of the program. OMNeT++(Objective Modular Network Testbed in C++) is a discrete event-based, free,open-source multi-protocol network simulationsoftware, it’s not a simulator of anyentities, butbecause it is based on a modular component, so it can build a complex network simulationenvironment, and as an open network simulation platform it also provides an interface thatconnections to other fields simulation tools. It also has a powerful graphical interface, that easyto clear and intuitive view simulation results.Verify the results in simulation scenarios and analyzed by sa fety and feasibility of theresults show no matter which authentication mechanism has been used, identity-basedauthentication scheme can satisfy the security needs of VANET system, and it will become oneof the future trends.
