Visible light communication technology is a kind of information transmission technology which uses light-emitting diode or fluorescent lamp to emit signal and transmit information.It has some advantages such as environmental protection, no electromagnetic interference,rich resource of bandwidth, Flexible deployment and so on. With the popularity of LED lighting in the home, the visible light communication technology will also has a broad development space. Current research in visible light communication indicates that high-speed communication technology and real-time communication system is the focus and the difficult point. According to this point, this paper mainly studies technology for high-speed communication and real-time communication. The main innovations of this paper can be described as follows:Firstly, this paper analyzes typical application scenarios and channel characteristic modeling of visible light. It uses the photon tracking method for channel estimation to get visible channel impulse response,and describes the channel characteristic. At the same time, this article also simulates the illuminance distribution of LED in the typical office lighting condition and gives advice of the layout of LED.Secondly, this paper uses Discrete Multi-Tone technology(DMT) to design a visible light communication experiment system based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(OFDM) scheme. Besides this article implements the offline system based on Matlab while it also implements the transmitter module based on FPGA and the offline demodulation system based on Matlab, and completes some experiments to test the performance of this system.Thirdly, most of new reports for visible light communication technology are focus on theoretical simulation and offline experiment. This paper designs a kind of visible light real-time video transmission system, implements the decoding module of FPGA and circuit design. We do some experiments to test the system performance. This system can transmit high-definition video at a real-time speed of12.5Mbps and the transmission distance can reach3.6m.In addition, this article also introduces the advantages of visible light communication, The current development of visible light communication, the composition of visible light communication system, the application scenarios and future research trend.
