Since the birth of the laser in the sixties of twenty century, laser has been widely usedand developed rapidly because of its good physical properties.Then,the External Cavity DiodeLaser has the advantages of small size、high efficiency、long life,so it has long-termapplication in light communication、light exchange、high-precision interferometry, almost theentire photo-electron fields.However,these applications require laser with narrow line widthand high frequency output stability.To meet the requirements on laser stability for the Atom Interferometer Thesis Project,this paper described several kinds of laser frequency stabilization methods, to analysis theiradvantages and disadvantages comparatively from the perspective of modulation andnon-modulation.The paper described modulation frequency stabilization methods--saturatedabsorption,Zeeman modulation,and non-modulation frequency stabilization methods--DAVLL(Dichroic-Atomic-Vapor Laser Lock)and DFDL(Doppler-free Dichroic Lock),andtheir experimental platform have been set up respectively, then their frequency stabilizationeffect also have been calculated and assessed. The locking frequency stability of saturatedabsorption method and DAVLL method is achieved to10-9magnitude, The locking frequencystability of Zeeman method and DFDL method is achieved to10-10magnitude, theirfrequency stabilization result can meet the demand of experimental use generally, whichshould be helpful for choosing the suitable frequency stabilization methods in the experimentin the future.The advantages and disadvantages of these frequency stabilization methods can becompared comprehensively from the complexity of the experiment system, the difficulity offrequency stabilization realized and the frequency stabilization results.In the saturatedabsorption method, modulation signal is loaded into the laser directly, so additional noise signal will be introduced then produced jitter to the laser frequency. However,the outsidemodulation frequency stabilization method--Zeeman and non-modulation frequencystabilization method--DAVLL and DFDL will not bring jitter to the laser frequency,moreover, their experiment system is simple, and easy to build, frequency stabilization effectis better. Therefore, modulation and non-modulation frequency stabilization method will bethe development direction of semiconductor laser frequency stabilization technology researchgradually.
