With today’s high speed development of social informatization and the advent of the era of big data, the carrying capacity of existing communication infrastructure and real-time processing of information have received the unprecedented challenge. Access network, which is known as the "last one kilometer" between user home network and backbone network, has become the bottleneck of restricting to the development of broadband network due to the technical barriers, such as the backward development, high cost and low processing speed. With high performance and low cost advantages of optical fiber, optical access network has become the focus of a growing number of scholars in the field of optical communications research. Compared to ofher optical access technology, orthogonal frequency division multiple access technology in passive optical network (OFDMA-PON) has great advantages in terms of spectrum efficiency, anti-dispersion capacity, complexity, resource scheduling and allocation mechanism. Thus, OFDMA-PON is considered as the evolution of the next generation of broadband optical access. In this context, how to make use of OFDMA PON system to improve the bearing capacity of existing communication system, transmission performance and real-time problem appears especially important. To solve the above problems, this paper focuses on the OFDMA-PON system to improve system performance, increase system adaptability and real-time processing and so on. The main contents include:(1)Research of optical beat interference suppression scheme The principle of OBI noise were analyzed theoretically in OFDMA-PON, in the meanwhile, the reasons and influence factors are described. According to the results of the theory, a coming-back empty carrier technology and CAP modulation were adopted in a newly specific solution.(2)Research of variable-rate optical OFDM-PON systemIn order to deal with the diversity of information flow, we propose a variable-rate optical OFDM-PON system structure based on over sampling, which can unify optical transmission rate of the different business needs and hardware environment without the upper scheduling.The system structure is easy to achieve and the operation is simple. In addition, over-sampling technology also can reduce the PAPR of OFDM signal and improve system performance.(3)The real-time processing in OFDMA-PON systemThis paper studies the OFDMA-PON real-time transceiver system based on FPGA, and use the Xilinx ISE and Modelsim joint simulation software to analyse the system key module as well as the overall framework, in which the expected results are obtained.
