With the development of LTE networks and increasing demand for multimedia streaming, LTE network plays an important role in the current multimedia transmission requirements and promoting the standardization process of future communication for its high transmission capacity. As a dynamic adaptive streaming, DASH(Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP) arises at the historic moment, and DASH could effectively improve the transmission performance of video streaming and current studies about DASH focus on the DASH transmission optimization using unicast mode in LTE networks. However, DASH streaming also could be transmitted by multicast mode called MBSFN according to the3GPP standard, in which the multicast is different from the traditional IP multicast and each eNB sends data to all the user using the same frequency at the same time in MBSFN mode. MBSFN mode could also effectively reduce transmission resource consumption. In this thesis, in order to solute the problem how to reduce the resource consumption when multiple DASH clients request the same video program in parallel, we proposed a combination method of unicast and multicast transmission mode for DASH in LTE MBMS network. The hybrid DASH transmission method could determine optimal DASH transmission mode and bit-rate based on wireless channel condition. In this thesis, a brief introduction of the research status and development trend of the DASH transmission in LTE network is given at first. Next we focus on presenting the mixed transmission solution and the mixed transmission algorithm in details, especially the design and main idea of this algorithm. Finally, this thesis simulates the algorithm in NS3 platform and the results testify the correctness and feasibility of the algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate that our scheme achieves better performance than the traditional single transmission methods in the literature. And the mixed transmission solution could improve the quality of experience (QoE) of wireless DASH users, save the wireless resources in LTE network and improve the user content.
