The power line communication (PLC) is popular emerging technology in recent years. We could transmit data, voice and video based on the existing power line architecture by using PLC. Dynamic resource allocation on power line is based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). It is conductive to resolving power line channels’ shortcomings, such as complex noises, multipath effects, frequency attenuation and so on. It can improve the throughput, reliability and users fairness. Based on channel characteristics modeling, three problems are researched. They are broadband power line system signal user resource allocation, multi-user resource allocation and cross-layer resource allocationIn the research of broadband power line system, signal user resource allocation problem is analyzed firstly in this paper, for reducing computational complexity and improving allocation efficiency, virtual bit modeling is modeled and a signal user fast resource allocation algorithm is proposed based on the model. The algorithm is iterative simple and fast convergence. Focus on the power line system multi-user resource allocation, two multi-user resource allocation algorithms which are respectively based on lagrangian relaxation theory and virtual bit are proposed. The former algorithm can obtain the system throughput limit with high computational complexity. The later has closer throughput of system up limit and low computational complexity. It has a certain practicality in PLC system. Finally, cross layer resource allocation on PLC is studied. A new user scheduling function of data link layer is built combining with the delay characteristics of real time user and queue characteristics of un-real time user. After the scheduling function obtains the transmission order of packets, resource allocation on physical layer is presented accordingly to finish the transmission of packets. Algorithms above are simulated in typical power line channel environment. The results correspond to theoretical expectations, and the performance of resource allocation in power line system is improved.
