Actuators which receive control information and the exert control to controlled objectare terminal control unit in industrial automation and control systems. In the process controlsystem, actuator is very important, which is directly related to the safe and reliable of theproductive process operation, and great losses will be brought once the actuator of thesystem fails. Self-validating actuator is a new generation of actuator which can not onlygive the corresponding output according to the input control variable but also give theaccuracy of the control output and status of the actuator itself and other information. In thispaper, a self-validating pneumatic actuator based on three component pneumatic valve isdeveloped, which had been added the temperature, flow rate and pressure sensors that wasused to measure temperature, flow, input and output pressure of the valve on the bodyposition. All of these measures provide redundant information for the condition monitoringof the self-validating valve.Take related theory of self-validating pneumatic actuator as a foundation, an universalhardware platform of the self-validating pneumatic actuator based on DSP and MCU wasdesigned. The article firstly introduce the concept of self-validating pneumatic actuator andresearch condition for the time being, and give a description of the related arithmetic used inself-validating pneumatic actuator. Next, specify the design ideas and their specificfunctions of each module hardware circuitry and methods how to achieve the function.Hardware circuit includes two part, a pneumatic actuator signal simulation circuit anddual-processor acquisition computing circuit. Then, the pneumatic actuator signalsimulation circuit and dual-processor collection operation circuits are introduced. This paperdetails the various parts of the dual-processor collection computing circuit, which includeanalog signal acquisition filter buffer unit, analog to digital conversion unit, data transferunit, communication with PC unit and TMS320F28335complete the self-validatingalgorithm under control of C8051F060.All of these are execution by C8051F060.Finally,the overall test experiments are in progress, including self-validatingpneumatic actuator signal simulation circuit produce the actuator signals and the doubleprocessor circuit sample the signal, digitize the signals,use the digitized date to execute theself-validating algorithm and then the result of self-validating algorithm will be transmit tothe PC. The result of the experiment will be used to improve the hardware system ofself-validating pneumatic. The hardware system can achieve the basic goal. Which will beused in the future practical application of industrial products, if more improvements aremade.
