With the development of social economy and the continuous progress of electronicinformation technology, people constantly improve their demands for communicationservices. Meanwhile, with the popularization of broadband internet access, the scale of theinformation network become larger, the transmission rate and bandwidth is higher. And allof the above poses a severe challenge to the communication network stability androbustness. The vigorous development of optical communication technology canefficiently met the requirements described above. On the other hand, in the optical network,an failed optical fiber is likely to lead to a large number of data transmission interruption,thus it’s very meaningful to have a deeply study for optical network survivability. In thecurrent optical transmission network, wavelength division multiplexing (WDM)technology has been widely used, WDM is a kind of technique which fiber optical signals,multiplexing of different wavelengths, transmit in the same optical fiber, the techniquesignificantly improves the transmission capacity of optical fiber, and the development oftechnology is mature, the application equipment is stable. At present, the research frontierof the optical signal multiplexing technology is based on orthogonal frequency divisionmultiplexing (OFDM) optical signal transmission. OFDM is a technology that the givenchannel is divided into a number of orthogonal sub channels in frequency domain, eachsub carrier is modulated in each sub channel, each sub channel between carriers areorthogonal to each other, so as to realize the high-speed transmission of signal, and toimprove the system spectrum utilization.The traditional ring optical transmission network topology can achieve50msprotection time, but the resource of protecting the link is expensive. This article focuses onflexible optical network based on the OFDM technology, this technology has become theinevitable trend of the development of optical network for its flexible way selection mode,strong connectivity and efficient resource. Firstly, the relevant background knowledge ofnetwork survivability is introduced, including the definition of survivability, survivability, protection principle of technology, the research significance and the main content. Then, itdescribes the principle of ring-cover protection technology in detail, and verifies thering-cover protection model in WDM optical network. Finally, this paper set out to studythe ring-cover protection technology based on elastic optical network. Finally, we developan Integer Linear Programming (ILP) optimization model for different networks, in orderto minimize the total required spare capacity in units of FS and the maximal index of FSsused in the network.
