γ-ray spectrometer is used to detect nuclear accidental radiation, environmentalradiation, nuclear medicine and geological prospecting. The main functions of themeasurement analysis software are γ-ray energy spectrum measurement and analyticalprocess of γ-ray energy spectrum, by calculating, the energy information andcorresponding radionuclide activity and effective dose can be obtained. Traditionalγ-ray spectrometer consists of probes and the host. However,the host is mainlyembedded in the relevant operating system. The analytical software that processes thedata from The current γ-ray spectrometer apparatus is embedded in the OS ofWindows, WinCE, Symbian. Particularly, when it comes to choose which theWindows operating system, there exist a lot of shortcomings, such as higher powercomsumption, poor integration, especially when exchanging data with the probethrough USB serial communication cable, the connection complexity, high failure rate,slower data processing and other shortcomings.Aimming at the trends of γ-ray spectrometer miniaturization and intelligentdevelopment, the paper has designed and developed Android-based measurementsoftware of γ-ray spectrometer. In this paper, Android operating system is applied asan application platform, Java as programming language, Eclipse as developmentenvironment. The software interface is beautiful and elegant, easily-operate, allfunctions can be achieved by touch-screen.The software adopts Bluetooth wirelesscommunication transmission. Acquiring spectral data and plotting spectral curvethrough multiple threads of control, due to existence of statistical fluctuations duringthe measurement process, the authentic peak is easily overwhelmed, so severalalgorithms of smoothing spectrum are designed in the software, not only thecharacteristic spectral peaks can be remained, but the location of the peak position can be accurately found, and the peaks of the border can be determined. Peak-searchanalysis is very important in γ-ray spectrum, the results of peak-search directly affectthe energy resolution ratio and peak area calculation. Aftering comparing severalpeak-search algorithms, derivative method is finally adopted to find peaks. Softwareuses a relational database (SQLite) managing files, through the establishment of aseries of database tables, information on the radionuclide, the energy scale factor,efficiency factor, scale factor, self-diagnostic information are saved in an orderlymanner.The analytical software in this paper is developed in this paper, which is basedon the portable γ-ray spectrometer measuring apparatus of Android operating system.It has the following features.1. By testing the software, it turns out that the software can achieve all the basicfunctions of γ-ray spectrum analytical software, including the γ-ray spectrum-smooth,peak-search, peak area calculation, radionuclide identification, energy calibration,efficiency calibration.2. γ-ray spectrometer using a bluetooth wireless communication, compared toordinary USB serial communication, the bluetooth communication not only has theadvantages of lower power consumption and more stable communication speed, butalso allows γ-ray spectrometer appear to be more portable and flexible.3. Android system is currently one of the mainstream smart devices, which hasa great number of users. When it’s combined with front γ spectrometer, in somedegree, the γ-ray spectrometer analytical software can also be conducive to thepromotion and popularization.4. The software also has designed remote self-diagnostic function for γ-rayspectrometer, which provides support for remote equipment-dysfunction diagnosisand repair of γ-ray spectrometer.
