In the traditional examination process, human subjective factors could influence greatlythe grading and scoring of test papers, both in the organization of exam questions and duringthe exam scoring process. This always leads to the fact that the result of scoring can not befull reflection of a student’s academic achievement and learning capacity. To improve theefficiency of scoring and reduce teacher’s workload, while making the examination gradesto maximum extent the representation of student’s true level, it is very essential to research thecomputer automatic scoring system utilizing related techniques. This paper’s work is based on the above application background. Since there are largenumber of synonyms, near-synonyms, and polysemic words in Chinese language, a samemeaning can be expressed using a variety of ways. This means great trouble for the computerautomatic scoring and a complete paperless examination. Through the research on the processof manual scoring for subjective simple questions, it can be found that the generalization andsummary of knowledge using concept map theory based fuzzy weighted concept map, andkey points analysis of the suggested answers from the perspective of meanings of words andsentences, can be significantly helpful to the implementation of the automatic grading processand the solution to the subjective question grading challenge. In this paper’s work, theautomatic grading system also implemented the automatic subjective question processing, anda classified analysis of related algorithms was conducted. On this basis, an automatic papermaking and grading system was designed. The system adopted a Browser/Server architecture, its purpose is to facilitate the teachers to log into the system using their own user name andpassword in any non-specific region, the main advantage of this design is the expanding of theteachers control space. Teacher can type in the exam questions and grade the test papers byaccessing the exam server, he can also composite an exam according to the degree ofdifficulty, the whole set of papers have difficulty control. During the automatic scoringprocess, algorithm was used to automatically grade the subjective questions. To ensure thatproblems relating to test papers could be solved just in time for students, onlinecommunication function was also provided for both teachers and students. The content of this paper is arranged as follows. First, the application status of computerautomatic grading system, the source of this paper’s thesis, the research background and theresearch significance were introduced, and the features and requirements for design of suchsystem were described. After that the general overview of the system and the feasibilityanalysis were discussed, followed by an objected-oriented system analysis, includingdiscussion of analytical method and characteristic of the grading system, the requirement analysis for the automatic grading system, which was composed of the functional analysis, theimplemental requirements, and the introduction of the system workflow. Next followed theoverall and detail system design, realization of each main module was given. In the end, thetest results and running examples were presented, as well as the analysis of some factors thatmay affect the result of automatic grading.
