Design And Implementation Of Biology Exercise Database For High School

Due to the update of high school biology textbooks, the higher requirement for making up test papers, the reform in the examination form of texts and the consideration for the differences in student’s learning ability, there is an urgent need to manage and utilize the test base system in a scientific way. However, the workload of making up test papers is too heavy for the high school teachers who are normally occupied with daily teaching. It’s necessary to develop a kind of high school biology database software that can deal with exercises, query exercises, artificially generate test paper, automatically generate test paper, and process test paper in order to reduce the burden on teachers and improve their work efficiency.My research applies Microsoft Access2003database management system and Visual Basic6.0as two major software tools. I spend a lot of time groping, improving and perfecting the establishment of sub-question database, the determination of writing format, input and inquiry of exercises, the output of the test paper. I also overcome some difficulties during the application of genetic algorithm in the database, for example, when ID number is used as code, the crossover and mutation can not be processed, or repeated code maybe occur because of randomly select exercises, and so on. The success rate of generating test paper is greatly improved with the application of genetic algorithm, which consists of the appropriate coding, fitness function design, the reproduction strategy as well as crossover strategy and mutation strategy to generate automatically test paper.Applying biology exercise database will enable high school teachers to meet the need of different students, arouse students’ interest, and build up their confidence in learning. Meanwhile, the work efficiency will be greatly improved.
