With the rapid growing popularization of large flow and high bandwidth services, as well as the rapid growth number of users and traffic, bandwidth demands of the optical access network will increase sharply, which means that the development of PON system with coverage distance of40km, downlink rate of44.58Gbps and uplink rate of10.3125Gbps will be an important direction. Meanwhile, with a variety of new services emerging, the explosive growth of user access number and traffic, the centralized data developing trend as well as the users’differentiated needs, resource scheduling and maintenance may face increasing pressure. And the evolution direction of PON technology is not only to increase the system capacity, SDN is also one direction for PON evolution. Based on these, the main research contents of this paper are as follows:First, complete the overall design of ONU embedded software for40G/10G TDM-PON experimental system, including analysis of the running environment and function requirements, the software architecture and functional modules design.Second, complete the design and implementation of40G framing and deframing module in40G/10G TDM-PON system’s embedded software. And commissioning trials show that the embedded software of40G framing and deframing module can correctly configure hardware module, complete functions of various levels of multiplexing/multiplexing,40G frame transceiver, clock synchronization, alarm and performance statistics.Third, complete the OAM solution design and coding implementation of40G/10G TDM-PON system. And experiments verify the system’s OAM scheme performs its configuration, fault and performance management functions correctly, the design can meet the demands of the target. Forth, in view of the PON network energy saving, improving the resource utilization rate of convergence access, and other requirements. This paper analyzes the necessities of introducing SDN for PON and proposes a resource pool-based software-defined generalized PON network architecture, based on business and traffic awareness, the controller can dynamically make adjustments based on real-time network resource usage, achieve energy-saving, aggregation services balanced and differentiated services.
