With the worldwide use of3G communication technology and the coming age of LTE technology in the recent years, more various and amazing mobile services are becoming possible because of the high speed wireless mobile communication networks. At the same time, customers are experiencing the smart phones with better performance and the storm of the mobile internet industry. The fast increasing requirements for data rate and amount are both opportunities and challenges for the mobile operators. It’s getting more and more popular to study how to increase the spectrum efficiency by using heterogeneous network as the spectrum resource is not sufficient nowadays.LTE-TDD technology makes the transmitting and receiving channels isolated by time frame, so as to keep the system from interferences between uplink and downlink. There are7configurations with different ratios of uplink to downlink time resource, which makes that LTE-TDD has the advantage of higher spectrum efficiency over LTE-FDD. The Dynamic-TDD is a new technology in the LTE-TDD HetNets. Because of the limited number of serving users, the uplink and downlink traffics may change fast and the traditional static configuration cannot match the requirement well. With Dynamic-TDD, the fast reconfiguration can be done to match the traffic condition. The uplink and downlink network throughput will increase as a result.However, there will be severe problem of inter-cell interference when Dynamic-TDD is used without any interference mitigation method. The system performance will be limited by the topology of HetNets and the interference between uplink and downlink. So it’s critical issue to solve the problem in order to get a better performance by Dynamic-TDD.The study in this paper focuses on the LTE-TDD HetNets scenario with Dynamic-TDD technology. The system level simulation platform is developed to evaluate the performance of Dynamic-TDD network with different interference coordination and mitigation schemes.This paper introduces some new modules of system level simulation platform for the evaluation, including the new traffic model, scheduler, and the interference calculation and mitigation methods. The inter-cell interference is theoretically modeled and analyzed in details. Different schemes are provided for solving the problem in different ways and verified in the simulation. The paper makes a contribution for the study of using Dynamic-TDD in HetNets.
