Satellite Communication has become an important role in the global communication system because of its large coverage, great transmission capacity and broad frequency. And with the development of information technology, the demand for such services as broadband multimedia has increased a lot. So the Ka-band satellite communication system is becoming more and more important that the C-band system is nearly replaced. Although the advantages of Ka-band system are obvious, the disadvantage is also severe. For example, the satellite communication channel of the Ka-band system is sensitive to rainfall and such weather condition will cause a lot of attenuation in the system. This paper introduces both cooperative diversity and alamouti space-time block code into the broadband satellite communication to overcome the fading effects brought by the atmosphere factor. Apart from that, the best-relay selection and power allocation schemes are discussed in this paper to improve the performance of the broadband satellite communication system.This paper proposes a satellite cooperative communication scheme based on the research of broadband satellite communication and related channel character. Furthermore, the alamouti STBC is combined with cooperative diversity and implement on the system proposed above. Besides, this paper has also proposed a best-relay selection scheme and an adaptive power allocation strategy. The main research achievements are as followed.1. This paper introduces the cooperative diversity into the satellite communication system and proposes a satellite cooperative communication scheme to lower the influence of channel fading. The character of the Ka-band satellite communication channel is studied in this paper and the further research has been made to improve the BER performance of the system. The simulation result shows that the introducing of cooperative diversity benefits the performance of the broadband system a lot and largely decreases the atmosphere influence.2. This paper also made some research on best-relay selection and power allocation strategy. A channel-character-based realy-selection method is proposed to choose the best cooperative node to enhance the system performance. In addition to that, an adaptive power allocation scheme is also studied to maximize the receive SNR at the destination. And the simulation results show that those resource management methods above could improve the system performance.3. This paper creatively combines the cooperative diversity and Alamouti STBC to implement on the broadband satellite communication system. In this way, the system could achieve code gain and diversity gain at the same time which will benefit the performance tremendously. And the simulation result shows that this new scheme made a better performance than cooperative diversity alone.
