Hybrid content distribution system combining CDN with P2P can take advantages of both CDN and P2P, promoting the scalability and quality of service of the system. In this paper, the topology building protocol of the underlying P2P network is discussed, and then the fusion strategy of P2P and CDN is given, at last we propose a novel content searching mechanism in the hybrid CDN-P2P system.Firstly we propose a topology building protocol for interest cluster based hybrid P2P network. Based on the super-peer based hybrid P2P network, taking the different preferences of contents between users into consideration, this study proposed a topology building protocol which will finally produce as fewer super-peers as possible on the premise of enough interest similarity. As every node gathers into the more powerful super-peer’s cluster, the number of nodes that directly participate message exchanging will decrease, leading to the reduction of network traffic.Secondly, an interest cluster based CDN-P2P hybrid content distribution system model, which is a product of the fusion of interest cluster based hybrid P2P network and CDN network, is proposed. To take full advantage of the scalability and self-organizing ability of P2P while the Quality-of-Service and robustness of CDN, surrogate servers in CDN networks are designed to take the responsibility of managing all the local interest clusters, and by this way we accomplish the fusion of P2P and CDN. According to the characteristics of the fused topology, a CDN-P2P hierarchical content distribution strategy is proposed. In comparison with the traditional CDN-P2P system, our proposed fused system and content distribution strategy gain a promotion in lightening the overload of the surrogate servers, increasing system’s robustness and decreasing the average communication cost in the process of content distributing.At last, the content searching mechanism in interest cluster based CDN-P2P system is given. Based on the previous two researches, a novel content searching algorithm is proposed to deal with the content discovery issues in interest cluster based CDN-P2P hybrid content distribution system. This algorithm exploits the advantages of the interest cluster based topology, at the same time combines the distributed searching and index based searching. The proposed searching mechanism could finally reduce the hops to find the content and decreasing the amount of traffic produced by forwarding the searching messages.
