LED screen is a kind of large full-color screen. It has occupied most ofthe outdoor display field owing to its unique advantages. With the expansion anddiversification of LED screen s application, people s requirement for LED screen sresolution is higher and higher. However, due to the LED s manufacturing processand output cost factors, the LED screen s display density is very difficult to achievethe display density that the LCD screen do. It means that for higher display density,LED screen need more LED lamps and bigger display area, which increase the costof LED screen. Virtual LED screen is an emerging technology of the LED displayfield. By using subpixel-sharing which is achieved by subpixel s time-sharing multiplexing, virtual LED display can improve the LED screen s display resolution in thecondition of the same quantity of LED lamps. This attracts a large numberof researchers and users. But the current virtual LED display also has manyproblems, this article is to solve these problems and propose a new method forvirtual LED display.A new mathematical modeling method based on smoothing filter is proposed forthe latest virtual LED display screen and a new control method is proposed for theapplication of the new modeling method. Compared with traditional virtual displaysystem, system with new mathematical modeling and control method can decreasethe need of the data bandwidth and increase the gray scale of the virtual displaysystem. Firstly, the article analyzed the imaging principle of LED screen and explored the nature of virtual display and gave the evaluation criteria of the LEDscreen which include resolution and gray scale. Secondly, the article introduced theimplementation of the traditional virtual display and its problems. Thirdly, the articleproposed a new mathematical modeling method for the latest virtual LED displayscreen and predicted the feasibility of new method and problems may occur. Then, the article used a LCD screen to simulate the feasibility of new method and used thevirtual LED screen to verify the result of new control and modeling method. At last, the article compared traditional and new method. The experimental results indicatedthat: by using the new control and modeling method, the image displayed on virtualLED screen is vivid and the detail of image is fully displayed. Therefore, the newmethod of control and modeling can be used in virtual LED screen.
