LTE-A system, as one of the pillars of4G communications, has enhanced the performance of system through advanced technological innovations. The new core technologies added into the LTE-A help the system to match the needs of the current trend in the mobile Internet depending on certain aspects such as capacity and transmit rates. Mobility management, as one of the basic functions of each generation communication system, has been improved in LTE-A system to deal with user needs in more and more complex scenes. Similarly, Self-Organizing Network (SON), including load balancing and mobility optimization, also faces a serious of increasing challenges, such as the impact of the addition about relays in architecture. The traditional algorithms and functions have a race with the new architecture and new technologies, and they are expected to become more powerful and more flexible.Mobility management is a basic function of the communication system. While relays lead to more noisy wireless environment and make it more difficult to allocate resources, it will reasonably enhance the communication experience of the user that taking advantage of the new architecture’s features and relays’beneficial effect on radio coverage. In this paper, algorithms about cell selection, cell reselection and handover are designed to create a new way to implement the comparison of channel quality between relays and base stations, so that the user can choose to access relays or base station rationally.Load Balancing can effectively improve the resource efficiency in the system, and then to resolve unexpected problems about overload in partial system. Load balancing algorithm is required to not only form an accurate judgment and make appropriate scheme choices but also be able to take into account overall interests in certain degrees according to current channel conditions and load distribution. Distributed load balancing algorithm in this paper emphasizes that load of cells should be accurately measured and assessed to reduce the negative impact on neighbor cells after handover. On the premise of protection of neighbor cells, centralized load balancing algorithm focuses on making the cells which have heavier overloading have higher priority to receive resources.Mobility Robustness Optimization algorithms can choose appropriate countermeasures for various events depending on the detailed analysis on error scenarios. Each measure will be implemented directly against the essential reason of the problem and promote effectively optimization. It improves the algorithms’performance in rapid response and efficient error correction that overcome the randomness and capture error scenarios accurately.The final simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithms reach the original expectation for them. And the problems encountered during the simulation also inspired the author to think for future works. It will be achieved that with the development of LTE-A technology, mobility management, load balancing and mobility robustness optimization will get more opportunities to collaborate with other functions to improve the system.
