The Analysis And Applications Of Mandarin Chinese Speech Characteristics

Mandarin Chinese is one of the world’s oldest and best developed languages. Meanwhile, Mandarin Chinese is also one of the most widely used languages in the world. In this paper, we summarize and study the acoustic characteristics of Mandarin, then apply them to the speech recognition system, compare and analyze performance of the systems. In addition, we build the Mandarin text-dependent speaker recognition system, and take Mandarin acoustic characteristics into account during the design and implementation of the system, finally compare and analyze performance of the systems.In this paper, we first illustrate the speech production system and speech perception system; and introduce the commonly used feature selection methods, hidden Markov model and decision tree.Then we summarize the features of Mandarin Chinese, mainly the acoustic characteristics; based on its characteristics, we extract the fundamental frequency contour from Mandarin continuous speech, and extract the phoneme fundamental frequency contour through force-alignment. Afterwards, we do experiments to study the discrimination of Mandarin phoneme fundamental frequency contour.Finally, based on the results of Mandarin phoneme fundamental frequency discrimination experiment, we apply the fundamental frequency to Mandarin speech recognition system and compare the performance of the systems; In addition, we design and implement the Mandarin text-dependent speaker recognition system, and integrate fundamental frequency into the system, and compare the system performance.
