With IPTV, HDTV, mobile multimedia, video streaming and other new emerging broadband services improving, the users’ access bandwidth demand is growing at an alarming rate. The access network as the user’s Web experience is directly related to the network, the docking the research network will become a new hot topic. Requirements of next-generation access technologies includes large-capacity, long-distance, multi-service access. OFDMA-PON with its high spectral efficiency, flexible resource allocation, forward compatibility and good access ultra-long distance becomes the important candidate of the next generation access networks.This paper focuses on the basic theory and key technologies of OFDMA-PON. Detailed analysis of the OFDMA-PON two implementations of the advantages and disadvantages, built OFDMA-PON offline test platform; We introduce the DCT-based OFDMA technology into the access network, compare to the DCT-based OFDMA-PON and traditional DFT-based OFDMA-PON solution; Build a real-time uplink OFDMA-PON transmission platform, successfully carried out the data transmission services and video services. In this thesis, OFDMA-PON upstream transmission system is the research object, We mainly study the basic principles and implementation of OFDMA-PON, especially for the key technologies and new modulation formats of OFDMA-PON made a thorough research. This paper’s contents and related results can be divided as following:1) This paper investigates OFDMA-PON research status and development prospects of the OFDMa-PON technology, the basic principle and performance advantages and disadvantages was made an in-depth research.2) In the study of basic principles and key technologies of OFDMA-PON, based on in-depth analysis of the OFDMA-PON two implementation scheme(DD-OFDMA-PON and CO-OFDMA-PON) performance and application scenarios, summed up the two programs strengths and weaknesses, build an offline test platform for OFDMA-PON implementation scheme made a further study demonstrated.3) In-depth understanding of OFDMa-PON based on the principle put forward based on the discrete cosine transform of OFDMA-PON solution was analyzed for OFDM systems DCT technology advantages, the use of simulation method for DCT-based OFDMA-PON system performance were estimated, and with traditional DFT-based OFDMA-PON systems were compared, proved DCT-based OFDMA-PON system spectrum efficiency advantage.4) Based on the current domestic and OFDMA-PON research in theoretical research or offline status of the test, we first set up China’s first FPGA-based real-time uplink OFDMA-PON transmission platform, and carried out data services and video services, real-time transmission test to prove system is running well, verify real-time uplink OFDMA-PON transmission system correctness and feasibility.
