The technologies of3D construction based on binocular stereo vision (BSV) attract more and more attention in these years. As the operation of BSV is simple and the cost of the equipment is low, it is widely used in various applications, such as aerospace, industry, medical science, traffic etc. The method of BSV is a process of simulating human eyes, reconstructing3D models from2D images through the technologies of computer image processing. This thesis is focused on the application of BSV in Military field, and the3D construction system of the tank images is built for the battlefield information reconnoitering.In this thesis, we build a system framework of the3D construction system based on Marr vision theory. The modules of the3D construction system are detailed designed and tested. The primary works in this thesis are presented as follows:(1) The research status of stereo vision and3D construction technology at home and abroad are deeply studied and analyzed, and the relevant technologies of BSV and3D construction system including the technologies of camera calibration, pre-processing of images, feature extraction, and stereo correspondence are deeply discussed;(2) The needs of the3D construction system are detailed analyzed from two aspects of the function needs and the performance indexes. Based on the needs of the system, the framework of the3D construction system is planed and the primary modules’functions are designed;(3) By taking a full consideration to the feature of the tank images and the needs of the3D construction system, the key modules of the system including the modules of the pre-processing of the tank images, the camera calibration, the tank images’ features extraction and the stereo correspondence of the tank images are detailed designed and implemented through the technical solutions’ comparisons and selections;(4) The interface of the3D construction system is shown and the main function modules of the system are tested and analyzed to verify the effectiveness of the system.The application of BSV using in the battlefield information reconnoitering needs to be further promoted. In this thesis, through the analysis of the tank images’ features, we design a3D construction system of the tank images which involves the modules of camera calibration, pre-processing of images, feature extraction, and stereo correspondence. The system finally achieves the expected purpose of recovering the3D information of the two2D tank images.
