Phased High Intensity Focused Ultrasound technology controls acoustic beam to focus at target area in vivo, which will increase the temperature of focus point to above65degree centigrade in seconds, and leads to cancer cells eliminated without damaging the normal tissue. As the target area is usually in vivo and it’s hard to observe directly, accurate image positioning is very important to help phased HIFU therapy. Also, precise temperature monitoring is a big part during the therapy, for this is a thermal ablation.Among many clinical imaging equipments, MRI(Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is the one which does no harm to human body and also provides high resolution images. It’s well-reasoned to use MRI as a imaging method to provide target area’s image information for phased HIFU’s therapy. MRI also can be used to measure temperature for phased HIFU’s therapy, which is a non-invasive and non-radiative method and is more distinct in thermal ablation, compared to other temperature measurement method. There are more and more research institute involved in study of MRI guided phased HIFU therapy technology.On the basis of the in-house developed phased HIFU system and cooperating with a MRI vendor, a MRI guided phased HIFU system is under developing. This thesis will introduce this system’s software design and development. After discussing and analyzing, the software is divided into three stand-alone parts and each of them will implements related functions. Using the API(Application Program Interface) provided by MRI vendor, we can combine these two systems and fulfill the goal of guiding phased HIFU’s therapy with MRI.Each software consists of several modules. On one hand, each team member can focus on one module and make it strong enough. On the other hand, it’s easier to modify and upgrade the whole software only by upgrading the specific module. In order to reduce the possibility of occurring bugs and errors, we use several design patterns, such as singleton pattern, state pattern. Also, this thesis will introduce the key point of each module and shows the result of each main module with some pictures.At last, unit test and code review are done to insure the quality of software. Also, some experiment are taken to see if this system software works properly and stably. The result of experiment proves that the software can work properly to handle communications between MRI and HIFU and controls the HIFU to work. This provides a good approach for the next step to do more animal experiment and to upgrade the software to releasable version.
