Bioinformatics has achieved rapid development in recent years, and someimportant biological information projects represented by the Human Genome Projecthave achieved unprecedented success, so it also makes the bio-information technologydata needed to deal with to be more and more, which are stored in different database,managed and maintained by different institutions with uneven level. The data stored isnot unified by content and format, and even the data are various conflicting betweeninstitutions, which have become a stumbling block to the actual research work. The keyto solve these drawbacks is to establish a unified bio-information service platform, toeffectively solve the problems that the scientific data in various units are inconsistentand even contradictory. The security authentication system is the foundation of theplatform, through the establishment of reasonable security authentication mechanism torealize that different scientific research institutions can share data resources flexibly andreliably and to create good conditions for the development of bio-informationtechnology.In this paper, the needs of security authentication system of bio-informationplatform for business needs are analyzed in detail, based on the characteristics ofbio-information data. On this basis, according to the characteristics of that mostinformation bio-information platforms are web-based, this paper designed andimplemented the security authentication system of the bio-information service platformby GIS security component of Globus, integrating JSP, SSH and Ganglia technology,using MySQL database. The system covers the key processes of the securityauthentication of bio-information service platform in grid environment, and solves thedifficulty of the deployment of the security authentication system of bio-informationplatform and the problems in portability, reusability and scalability, and reducesmanagement costs greatly, improves efficiency. In addition, the system with the RSApublic key encryption algorithm ensures that information storage and communication issecurity, and the algorithm has been gradually accepted after more than30years testand is one of the best encryption scheme, so the system can serve the variousbioinformatics research institutions better on the basis of it. In this paper, the operationof regular rights allotment in the security authentication system of bio-informationservice platform are realized, and the realization of biological information platform forthe user’s certificate management, authentication services, packet service grid, the gridtrust services, certificate delegation, and SSO and global logout are also achieved. Allthese achievements get good results, and are applied to the concrete practice. The security authentication system of bio-information service platform in thispaper meets the design objectives and requirements by system testing, and has beenapplied in the Chinese biotechnology information service platform. Meanwhile, thesystem uses the Web Services and SOA technologies to achieve a more complete serviceinterface, with good versatility, and it is a good foundation for future cross-platformapplications and data communication.
