Today, the proliferation of network information and digital resources reduces theusage of physical library. At the same time, the rise of new Reading Modes such as themobile reading changes people’s traditional reading behaviors. In this case, the fuctions oflibraries as knowledge carriers and propagation mediums are limited. To enhance thelibraries’ core competitiveness, to improve the utilization of the libraries and reduce thecosts of the libraries, this article was focused to study the library user behaviors. Becauseservices are the fundamental of the library as users are the objects of services, and onlythrough a clear understanding of the users, analysising of user behavior, perceiving userneeds are able to provide better services to attract users. This article was divided into two levels in behavior research, one was based onbehavior patterns of user analysis, and the other was based on the user’s behavior patternsstudy. The first part was analyzed the entering, borrowing books and other actions by theuser in the physical library, combined the different habits of using the library by studentsof engineering, science, and management colleges. In order to develop differentmanagement rules for different users, to meet the individual conditions to increase theutilization of the library; this part was used K-means clustering model to analyse theexisted and potential value of the user at the same time to identify the difference betweenactive users, value users and potential users. The second part was studied CHAID decisiontree model of the users from the access control system to enter the library, borrowingbehavior occurs, and finding the specific borrowed bibliographic; made all aspects oflinkage analysis to understand the user access to the library after the behavior trends todistinguish between the borrowing preferences of each college to mine differences of eachgrade in the process of user behavior in order to guide the optimal allocation of libraryresources. This paper was used data mining technology in user behaviors’ analysis and research. Theory of data mining is widely used in the financial services, biotechnology, telecommunications and other fields, and the theory has become more sophisticated. Thelibrary ata should be a good combination. In this paper, some tools such as SPSSClementine, SQL Server, Excel and other data processing, statistical and mining software, mining large amounts of data in the library system were used.User data, collection data and user activity had been deeply studied in this paper, andsome graphics were drawn to make the significance conclusions practically. However, dueto the limitations of time and space, there is a lot of work to be perfected.
