Ad Hoc networks are self-organization networks which consist of many mobilenodes equipped with the functions of routing and receiving the packets. The wholenetworks have not any base stations. Because of the characteristics of theself-organization random-mobility ability and high anti-destroying ability, the Ad Hocnetworks have irreplaceable status in military communication applications. Nowadays, many scholars are researching on these networks, analyzing the characteristics of allaspects of the Ad Hoc networks technology, improving the algorithms of protocols so asto improve the performances under certain conditions. However, the study of networksunder tactical environment is not enough. At present, combining the characteristics oftactical environment with operational communication needs is one of contents whichscholars need to research.Based on the current studies about Ad Hoc networks technology, this thesisproposed a novel channel resource assignment and routing algorithm for tactical Ad Hocnetworks with the purpose of improving the performance of real-time data transmissionthrough researching on the technology of channel access and routing mechanism. Thisthesis mainly completed the tasks as follows:By analyzing the tactical Ad Hoc networks characteristics and protocol functions ofeach layer, this thesis studied the characteristics of tactical networks. After that, in orderto improve the performance of network transmission delay so as to meet the requirementof real-time tracking targets, this thesis researched on the Spatial re-use Time DivisionMultiple Access(STDMA) protocol. For the purpose of reducing the end-to-end delay time, this thesis came up with anovel algorithm for STDMA protocol. By adopting the optimal link slot assignmentstrategy and re-use time slot mechanism, this algorithm improved the efficiency ofnetworks bandwidth.According to the research above, this thesis proposed another improvement of theDynamic Source Routing (DSR) protocol adapted to the STDMA. STDMA protocol usedthe topology information provided by DSR routing protocol to start the time slotassignment mechanism. In addition, in view of the shortcomings of DSR routing protocol, this thesis put forward with the method of active routing combined with passive routingmechanism to reduce the routing lookup times. Besides, the algorithms optimized the DSR routing lookup mechanism and backup routing mechanism to improve the channelefficiency. In the end of this thesis, the results and analysis of simulation combined withimproved STDMA and DSR routing protocol was provided. With the help of Qualnetnetwork simulation software, this thesis compared and analyzed the superiority ofimproved protocols. The contents about the study of actual tactical Ad Hoc networks inthis thesis provides researchers with reference.
