In recent years, the rise of cloud storage brings new possibilities forhigh-quality data services, but the sensitive data on the cloud also intro-duces new security issues. Data encryption can protect data security in away, but at the cost of compromised efciency. The searchable symmet-ric encryption (SSE) allows us to retrieve the encrypted data in the cloud. This paper studies the standardization of data security in SSE, main-ly related to similarity relevance and scheme robustness. The traditionalserver-based retrieval using hierarchical order-preserving encryption toprotect data security, but this approach inevitably leaked information. Toavoid damage to data security, this paper supports two-round searchableencryption mode(TRSE). This mode uses the vector space model and theimproved homomorphic encryption algorithm, which provides sufcientretrieval efciency and data security. Users participate in the hierarchi-cal retrieval process, but most of the computational work still done by theserver, and these calculations are based on only the encrypted data. Thus, the pattern of information leakage can be eliminated, for protecting thesecurity of data. Thorough security analysis and performance analysisshows that TRSE ensures data security and retrieval efciency.
