In both modern industry and medical science, it is very important to get high resolutionand accurate resistivity image through some parameter measurement and diagnosis. Due tothe limitations of traditional resistivity imaging methods, this thesis presents a research thatcombines the technique of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with traditional electricalresistance tomography (ERT), yields a new instrument referred to as the magnetic resonanceelectrical resistance tomography (MRERT) potentially capable of providing better imageresolution. MRERT uses the MRI technology to measure the current density in themeasuring field, the induced magnetic density generated by the current density and someother electric parameters to do with ERT, and improves the performance of ERT technology.Theoretically high resolution and accurate conductivity distribution image can be obtainedwith MRERT.The thesis discusses several works as follows.(1) The basic principle of electrical resistance tomography and magnetic resonanceimaging is analyzed first. Based on the theory, this thesis constructed a model according toMRI imaging principle in MATLAB environment, implemented the MRI reconstruction usingthe method of two dimensional Fourier transform for different weighting images. Finally, thecharacteristics of magnetic resonance imaging is analyzed, and compared with the ERTtechnology.(2) The thesis combines the MRI with ERT technology, and discusses the principle ofmeasurement using the magnetic resonance electrical resistance tomography (MRERT). Thethesis establishes an MRERT model software package using finite element method (FEM).The software package includes the functions of measurement filed partition, flow pattern setup, ERT forward solver, distributions of potential and current density, induced magneticflux density etc.(3) Designed a Matlab based GUI platform for general MRERT simulation. The thesisdeveloped three imaging methods of ERT, MRI and MRERT respectively which couldprovide useful support for the future development and application of MRERTinstrumentation.
