In recent years, with the rapid development of electronic technology, mobilephones and tablet computers have become increasingly common in people’s lives.Learning by phone or tablet is attaching more and more people’s attention, which hasbrought a great convenience to people’s lives. At the same time, for the Deaf, a specialgroup in huge number, the traditional method of learning language is to go to thespecialized rehabilitation institutions and electronic devices are rarely among them, sosoftware application running on these handheld devices for the special learning needsof this group will enjoy a huge market prospects and this is what the thesis do.After studying on voice recognition, Android platform and voice features of theDeaf, this thesis proposed the development of models for teaching deaf peoplepronunciation-Deaf voice teaching software, the voice teaching software is based onAndroid platform, and treats the Deaf as target users. Using speech recognizingtechnology, the thesis can compare the pronunciation of the Deaf with the standardmodels from the training template library and determine whether it is right or not, andthen find out the cause and correct the error if there is any. The speech recognizingtechnology is a main point of this paper. In our work, for speech recognition, thethesis used hidden Markov model (HMM) and apply the JNI technology called voicerecognition under module Android system and completed the software designcombining with the pronunciation characteristics of deaf people.This paper demonstrates the design concept, overall framework, interface,system function, designing process and the final function realization. With thisapplication, the deaf people can have a simple, convenient, and cost-saving way tolearn languages, which guarantees this application a bright prospect.
