Security is a topic should be paid more attention to, comparing to the national economicgrowth. Security incidents always comes with a great loss, ranging from the property tohuman lives. The rapid development of sensor technology provides an effective way forpre-warning, which can give us time to stop the disaster. One kind of pre-warning technology,distributed optical fiber sensor, has its unique technical advantages. In many areas, such assecurity, industrial, aerospace and military this technology shows is great impact. Apre-warning system based on coherent Rayleigh scattering sensing technology is proposed,which shows high sensitivity and high positioning accuracy simultaneously. It has beenproved that with high detection sensitivity, effective signal processing method, real-timeresponse speed and high positioning accuracy this system satisfies the demand of pre-warningvery well.The main contents are as follows:(1) The importance of developing of distributed optical fiber sensing technology foreconomic and social has been discussed. Various methods of distributed optical fiber sensingtechnology and principles are studied. Application for pre-warning is analyzed.(2) A pre-warning system based on coherent Rayleigh scattering technology is built andthe role of the various functional units are carried out. Through in-depth analysis of thetechnical principles, an equivalent model of the system is established(3) Spatial and temporal characteristics of the origin signal has been studied. Based onthis, a method for evaluation of all-optical disturbances is proposed. This method caneffectively overcome the traditional algorithm’s disadvantage. We also discussed andanalyzed the key parameters to this algorithm.(4) The implementation of pre-warning system based on coherent Rayleigh scatteringdistributed optical fiber sensing technology is discussed in detail.(5) Pre-warning system based on coherent Rayleigh scattering distributed optical fibersensing technology is built. Experiments show that using the hardware and signal processingmethod we proposed, system works stability and well in long-term testing.(6) Further research on this topic is discussed.
