Digital holography is a new technical field. This technical field involvesphotoelectric technology and computer technology. This technology has manyadvantages, for example, non-contact, quasi-real-time, and high-precision. Phaseunwrapping is an important part the digital holographic. However, because of thedifference in real environment, it is difficult to use an algorithm to solve all theunwrapping problems in practice. In recent years, domestic and foreign experts andscholars proposed lots of algorithms, many of which is the same type of algorithms, some are different types of algorithms. In practical applications, the selection ofalgorithms is a difficult problem. Therefore, it is necessary to study the phaseunwrapping algorithms system deeply and systematically to find the optimal algorithmsthe same type of algorithm in different situations. In this paper, the application of phase unwrapping algorithm in digital holographic microscopy system is studied through comparison. It has achieved some many results which are described below one by one:1. Introduces the basic principles of the phase unwrapping algorithm based onsteps path tracking. The results have been verified by experiments based computersimulation. Scope of application of the classic method is given. The optimal algorithmin different situations has been found.2. Introduces the basic principles and procedures based on minimum norm methodof phase unwrapping algorithms. The results have been verified by experiments basedcomputer simulation. Scope of application of the classic method is given. The optimalalgorithm in different situations has been found.Because of errors in the actual measurement conditions, the requirements forunwrapping algorithm are different. Some requirements need high noise immunity foralgorithm. Some requirements ask for better performance on under-sampling processing. Some requirements ask for speeding. So it is necessary to find the optimal algorithm foreach class of algorithms which is suitable enough for different conditions by comparingthe phase unwrapping algorithms.
