Field trials of pesticides are the initial stage and the most basic work in pesticides registration management. It provides basic data of pesticide field application for pesticide manufacturers in pesticides registration. Field trials of pesticides are also the main part of assessing whether the pesticide efficacy has the value of popularizing in process for the application of pesticides. Due to the complexity and the confusion of data in field trials of pesticides, it’s very easy to make mistakes caused by human being in analysis and calculation process, which lead to wrong conclusion. At present, there is an amount of excellent statistic software, such as DPS, SPSS, and SAS, which are powerful, and have the ability to calculate fast. But they can’t pretreat experimental data of pesticides and turn it to result of control effect automatically. They can only be used as a statistic tools. Their calculation of control effects and statistical analysis are in many separate steps, which are tedious to use.Commissioned by the National Centre for agricultural technology extension and service, we have developed a pesticide experiment reports automatic generation and management system (PERMS), according to pesticide field trial national guidelines and using Delphi7+SQL Server2005, Access2010as a development tools. PERMS has the functions of experiment data management, experiment design, experiment data calculation, data statistical analysis and word document generation. Users can use it easily by typing in some initial arguments of a pesticide experiment, PERMS then creates an experiment and saves it to the database automatically, which users can view and edit the experiment data anytime anywhere they want. After all the experiment data is finished and saved to the database, PERMS will generate a word document along with the statistical results of the experiment data which in line with China’s national standards.This paper is composed of four parts. The first part describes pesticides registration and field trials of pesticides briefly, their research progress domestic and foreign, and the purpose and significance of the research. The second part introduces the basic procedure of field trials of pesticides and experiment data processing, including basic principle of randomized block experiment, calculation of the control effect of pesticide, variance analysis and multiple comparisons, which are used in experiment data processing. Furthermore, it provides some solutions of problems in field trials of pesticides at the present stage. The third part introduces the main purpose and designing ideas in PERMS and its system structure. In3.4subsystems, several important features of this system design are introduced and analyzed in detail. The fourth part discusses a computer implemented method of the main functions of the system, database design, choice of development tool and ADO database accessing technology. The main content of the fifth part is the conclusions and discussions of innovation of PERMS. The features of the system are as follows, PERMS has a system data processing procedure way, it can be adapted to various types of pesticides mixed, with a good versatility. It also has the network sharing function of pesticide experimental data, what’s more, PERMS can automatic generate a report on the basis of data processing. However, the system also has a lot of space for improvement, with the development of society and the change of requirement, the system will be constantly updated to adapt to the new needs.
