A Cloud Services Platform For Extracting GPS Tracks

With the popularity of handheld GPS devices, the GPS technology make our daily travelmore conveniently, at the same time, the Historical trajectory data recorded on GPS devicescan be used as an important clues and evidences for deterring crime by the public securityorgan. However, there are various kinds of GPS software that running on different hardwareor different software environments, many GPS devices use a proprietary format to store itshistorical trajectory data, and it’s hard to view history between different GPS devices, so itadds tremendous time and economic costs for Evidence identification of the public securityorgans. Therefore, by way of "In2012, Ministry of Public Security Application Innovationproject" approval, undertaken by the Public Security Bureau in Jilin Province, the NortheastNormal University’s Software developed the cloud services platform for extracting GPStracks.After summarizing the problems of Public Security Organs and analysis the problemsfound in the development process, the cloud services platform for extracting GPS tracks isdesigned into four modules: display module, control module, the virtual machine module andautomatic operation module based on Auto Hotkey. The display module send message to thecontrol module by HTTP. The control module firstly open the virtual machine moduleaccording to the user selected GPS device, then call the automatic operation module throughinterface to do different operation in the virtual machine, finally read the results and sent tothe display module.The above plan is able to achieve to shield different GPS device’s operation difference, toreduce user learning different GPS device’s operation’s time, and to reduce the purchase costof different GPS device. During the development the cloud services platform for extractingGPS tracks, it had been test in daily case of the Public Security Bureau in Jilin Province, ithad proved basically useful for extracting GPS tracks.
