The dual-band impedance transformer can be used in two different frequency bands, it can minimize the dual-band communication system and improve the stability and reliability of the dual-band communication system. So the dual-band impedance transformer plays a significant role in realizing dual-band communication and multi frequency communication system.This paper researches on the dual-band impedance transformer, and discusses the design methods of the dual-band impedance transformer. On this basis, this paper proposes a new circuit structure of the dual-band impedance transformer. Meanwhile, this paper proposes a dual-band impedance transformer design method based on the improved genetic algorithm. The main researches of this paper are as follows:1. The T shape equivalent circuit of the λ0/4impedance transformer has be analyzed, and the dual-band impedance transformer design formula is obtained. Using this equivalent circuit, can facilitate transforms the λ0/4impedance transformer at single frequency into dual-band.2. On the two cases of the fixed length and the variable length, the dual-band impedance transformer is optimized the circuit parameters by using the improved genetic algorithm. The results of optimization design and the existing theoretical design are basically the same. Besides the load of complex impedance is optimized, results show the practicability of the design method.3. Using improved genetic algorithm automatically design any given dual band impedance transformer. Structure and component parameter values are optimized along, hence the auto design of structure and component parameter is realized.4. Because the existing design methods of the dual-band impedance transformer are just used to match in frequency, this paper attempts to design from the perspective of broad-band matching, and get the best circuit. The auto design of structure and component parameter is realized by the optimization design.Above all, the design method proposed in this paper for the dual-band impedance transformer automation has high level of automation. The design of the impedance transformer performance are better than the existing impedance transformers. And it can design of the arbitrary structure of the dual-band impedance transformer in frequency and broad-band.
