The support from Information Technology (IT) is indispensable to the development ofmodern banking industry. At the same time IT provides convenience for the core businessof the banking industry, it also becomes one of the most effective ways to create newmarkets and attract new customers. Therefore, more and more banks management haverealized that IT has become the core of the banking capital operation and value creation.Above all, IT has grown into the integral part of the core competitiveness of the bankingworld.Information Technology Service management (ITSM) is an effective mechanism toensure the normal operation of banking IT system; it is the foundation for the orderlyimplementation of bank IT business; it is also the effective protection to support businessdevelopment. ITG is involved in all aspects of the bank IT production: such as theconstruction, operation and maintenance, IT management, and risk control. It is the mostimportant content that should not be overlooked during the process of IT implementation,and it is the most effective means to comprehensively improve the level of banking ITimplementation and management skills.Small banks cannot follow the implementation of ITSM for large banks. How toproceed with ITSM for small banks become the critical issues for management to resolveurgently. Without the support of IT platform, it is impossible for small banks to play itsactive geographical advantages, expand the characteristics of business and to carry outdiversified operations. To this end, a growing number of small banks pay more attentionto the construction and operation of IT platforms.To better develop the ITSM system, the team utilizes multiple methods (such as faceto face communication, questionnaires, telephone interviews and online surveys etc),focuses on the problem of ITSM,and then conducts the research among41selective banksnationwide.Based on more than forty banks nationwide research and interviews, this paper provides an in-depth analysis on ITSM. It illustrates the problems and disadvantages thatpresent in the ITSM for small banks. Get the idea for develop the ITSM for small bank.
