This thesis carries out research on scientific research projects. In this thesis, a conformal measurement antenna prototype for small cone platform is developed, and the results of experimentation indicate that the prototype performance has met the requirements of expectant technical targets and has a good application effect. In addition, a polarization reconfigurable spiral slot antenna is proposed. The measurement results sustain the reconfigurability of the proposed design.The major contribution of this thesis is summarized as follows:1. Combining the requirements of the specific conformal measurement antenna for small cone platform, the concepts, application and research status of the conformal antennas are discussed. The design method of the conformal fan dipole antenna is discussed. Software simulations and analysis for the antenna structure is carried out. According to the simulation results, the prototype is developed and tested. The measurement results show that the antenna prototype performance has met the requirements of expectant technical targets in the characteristics of VSWR, polarization, radiation patterns, etc. The antenna prototype meets the engineering needs.2. A polarization reconfigurable spiral slot antenna is proposed. Most of the previous work for polarization reconfigurability concentrates on switching between right-hand circular polarization (RHCP) and left-hand circular polarization (LHCP). Relatively few antennas have been presented that can switch between linear and circular polarizations on a single antenna with a wide overlapping frequency bandwidth and a3dB axial ratio bandwidth. To solve this problem, a polarization reconfigurable spiral slot antenna is proposed that has the capability to switch between circular and linear polarizations on a single antenna. The antenna has advantages of wide frequency and polarization bandwidth. The measured results of the prototype antenna sustain the reconfigurability of the proposed design.
