Conventional water-meter detection has many drawbacks, such as lowefficiency, low reliability, high cost, difficult maintenance problems and so on, whichwastes a great deal of human, financial and material resources, and makes fieldoperations inconvenient. In order to solve these problems, a design of wirelesswater-meter detection system is proposed in this paper, in which photoelectricsensors, ZigBee wireless communication technology and upper computer arecombined based on ZigBee. The main work accomplished is as follows:Firstly, a statistical analysis is made on the conventional water-meter detection,and the major drawbacks and main directions of developing of present water-meterdetection is analyzed. And then through learning measuring principles of water metermetering. the water-meter measurement error is obtained in this paper by detectingrotation rate of starting components of the water-meter directly through photoelectricsensor.Secondly, the detecting system is designed and built, which includes thefollowing:1) A new type of laser reflection sensor is developed, and signalconditioning circuit is made to realize the signal process of the rotation condition ofplum flower rotor, besides, the mechanical shape was designed with PVC materialwhich has a good waterproof effect;2) The lower computer system sends datathrough ZigBee which is made up of sensor and the transmit mode part ofmicroprocessor CC2530;3) The upper computer system receives data throughZigBee which is made up of PC and the receiving mode part of microprocessorCC2530;4) By using VC++6.0to program the PC monitoring software, throughwhich the received data processed, and the measurement error can be obtaineddirectly.Finally, the sensor detection system is calibrated through calibration experiment,then measurement error of this system is evaluated. The conventional detection andthe detection system proposed in this paper is compared through experimental research, and experiment result shows that this detection system is reliable and stable.Because the efficiency of water-meter detection in small flow zone is very low, a newdetection method is proposed, and the corresponding experiment is done. Theexperiment result shows that the detection of the small flow zone is not only fast butalso reliable and accurate in this system.
