The reuse of exiting mesh models can dramatically promotetheefficiencyofmeshmodelprocessinginthefiledofmeshgeometryedit-ing, thus it is always an attractive subject in computer graphics communi-ty. This dissertation comprehensively analyzes and summaries the relatedmethods and techniques of mesh geometry editing. Combining with tri-angle meshing methods, the research on3D mesh cloning and hole fillingmethods is emphasized. The main content reads as follows:Based on the already existing mesh geometry editing methods, we pro-pose a new robust algorithm for real-time mesh geometric editing. Firstlyweselecttheregionofinterestusingapaintbrushinterfaceandascertaintheregion for parameterization by traversing the mesh using half edge struc-ture combining with seed fill algorithm. Then geodesic polar coordinatesis used for triangle parameterization and we recover the3D mesh featureby mean value coordinates and poisson cloning theory. Finally the copy-paste operation between two meshes is realized. The algorithm ensuresrobustness and real-time capability.The cloned features of the mesh that is obtained by the algorithm pro-posed in the second chapter are all depended on the source mesh. Whilethe features of the target mesh would not expect to be replaced during somecloning operations. In order to solve this problem, we improve the algo-rithm to realize conformal cloning. Otherwise, keeping the idea of meshreusingtorepairtheholesinthetargetmesh, themethodavoidedthecalcu-lation ofsurfacefitting. The correspondingexperiments in eachpartshowsdesirable performance.
