The sound made by animal is a reflection of animal behavior, which has wealthy biological functions. It is not the only way of animals’ communication, but also the feedback information to the internal body condition and physilogical demands. The acoustic signal, to a certain extent, can reflect their body condition and their stress reactions. Experienced livestock workers can understand the current behavior of the animal by animal sounds, that is, the behavioral characteristics can be found through analysis of animal sound signal.Based on LabVIEW2010software, an acoustic signal processing and recognition system for ewes’bleat was designed in this paper, realized acoustic signal acquisition, processing, feature extraction, data storage and behavior recognition, etc. Through analysis in time domain, frequency domain and time-frequency domain, the features of signal duration, time interval, peak frequency, and energy concentration range were extracted, and a database of feature values was established in software Access2007.Experimental results show that the features of ewes’bleat in different physiological and external conditions differ a lot. The system can be used to detect the sound signals for ewes in different stress reactions, and has the characteristics of friendly interface and easy operation, established a software basis for further study of acoustic signal recognition for ewes.
