For today’s3D animation product, both image quality and working efficiency are highlyrequired due to the fierce competition for market. Traditional UV material method’s lowmapping quality and poor pipeline efficiency can hardly satisfy producers want, and havebeen forced out of the stage of history. At the same time, Ptex as the ideal upgrade option isstill not supported perfectly in some main platforms.In order to accelerate the upgrading of mapping methods and make Ptex more widelyaccepted, we developed a Maya plugin to fix several support problems. We used CUDA toimplement Catmull-Clark and Loop subdivision algorithms and adaptive algorithm based oncamera’s position, made it possible for animation groups and binding groups to use“WYSIWYG” models in high precision, thus improved the production efficiency and reducedthe repair rate.
