With the arrival of the era of Mobile Internet, smart mobile terminal industry hasalso come to its prosperity. The mobile phone manufacturers all launch their own smartphones and tablet PCs one after another. Android system has been favored by mostmobile phone manufacturers and application developers because of its open source andgood user experience. At the same time, application developers and the developmententhusiasts has developed numbers of Android Mobile application, which alsoencourage people to abandon the old media products, as many of them can be replacedby applications. This article describes how to develop the FM radio application on theAndroid system in detail.In this article, Qualcomm’s MSM7627A and Broadcom’s BCM4330WiFi,Bluetooth, FM radio three-in-one chip is used as the hardware platform, while theoperating system is Android2.3(Gingerbread). This paper first introduces some basicconcepts of the Android system and FM radio. Secondly, based on the BCM4330’shardware features and user needs, need analysis of FM radio both on hardware andsoftware is done. Then it describes BCM4330FM radio hardware circuit design andFM Radio application software design and the detailed implementation process.Finally the function and stability of the FM radio are tested.Based on the final test results, it is easy to see that the basic functions of the FM radiohave been realized and the performance of FM radio is basically stable, which in a wayshows that the design either on the hardware or the software part is very successful.
