With the rapid development of optical imaging technology and its extensionof applications, new imaging system and operating modes are emerging. Simplelaboratory test can not truly reflect the actual situation, meanwhile the field test willconsume a lot of time, manpower and material resources. Due to these conditions,people can not test system performance which is used in different weatherconditions, different observation distance. Therefore, in order to reducedevelopment costs and shorten the development cycle, it has become an urgent needto analyze the impact of meteorological conditions on image quality and to usesimulation methods to obtain the target scene images under different meteorologicalconditions.This paper focuses on the target scene simulation and image qualityassessment of needs and carries out the following research aspects:Firstly, this paper launched simulation image degradation under differentmeteorological environments. It analyzed environmental impact mechanism ofimage quality degradation, established the image degradation quantitativecharacterization model, and simulated a given target scene under meteorologicalconditions.Secondly, it achieved the image quality parameter extraction and optimizationof simulation images under meteorological conditions. It established the imagequality evaluation system facing to application. The simulated image qualityparameters of different meteorological conditions were extracted. These parameterswere optimized using principal component analysis and correlation analysis method.Finally, it completed the evaluation on meteorological conditions to imagequality. It analyzed the variation of image quality parameters caused by the changeof meteorological condition, and considered the coupled relationship between themeteorological conditions and the image quality. The affecting weights of differentconditions to image quality were analyzed based on BP neural network.Research on image simulation under different meteorological conditions andinfluence of the meteorological environment on image quality are significant. Itcombines the image quality assessment and the target scene simulation. It fullyexplores the mechanism of the target scene imaging simulation and reveals therelationship of meteorological conditions and the image quality scientifically. Itprovides a reliable theoretical basis to program design and demonstration, testingand evaluation during the imaging systems development process.
