Short-pulsed laser propagation in a participating medium is an important physicalproblem, which has been widely applied in various fields. Due to the applications ofthe short-pulsed laser, the participating medium transient radiative tranfer has been gotmore and more attention in many emerging areas in recent years. In order to describethe short-pulsed laser transmission in the participating medium accurately andcompletely, we need to consider transient and polarization characteristics of the pulse. In this paper, we simulate transient vector radiative transfer of the participatingmedium by a new method, which is the combined application of a time shift andsuperposition (TSS) principle and a Monte Carlo method. We describe the transientpolarization behavior of the short-pulse laser propagating in the participatory mediumby defining the transient vector radiative transfer matrix. The TSS principle is appliedto the MC model for improving the computational efficiency and accuracy. This paper builds the one-dimensional physical model of the participatingmedium to calculate the one-dimensional transient polarized radiative transfer of therefractive and un-refractive medium, to display and analyse its Stokes vector in timeand space, and to study the influence of the different parameters on Stokes vector. While this paper do the same with the one-dimensional three-layer participatingmedium and the two-dimensional participating medium. In the last part, this paper usesthe atmosphere-ocean systems to study the two-dimensional transient polarizedradiative transfer of the participating medium. To verify the correctness of the two-dimensional model, this paper compares the steady-state results and data calculated inthe one-dimensional atmosphere-ocean systems with the results of the two dimensionalatmosphere-ocean systems, while also displaying and analysing the Stokes vectordistribution of transient polarized radiative transfer in the atmosphere-ocean systems.
