With high-definition (HD) display electronic products constantly updating, the panel glass putsforward higher requirements for its durability. Aluminosilicate glass enhanced by chemical can obtainexcellent mechanical properties, such as high strength, impact resistance and surface scratches. It hasbeen widely applied to HD display panel glass substrates, especially as the screen protective materialsfor handwritten touch screen and LCD screen (such as TFT-LCD, Tablet PC, smart phone, etc.). Inorder to improve the display performance and service life, ultra-precision machining of the surface isone of the most effective means to obtain high-quality surface. Based on this background, acombination technology of Fixed-Abrasive and Iced Fixed-Abrasive (IFA) pad for hard and brittlematerials was proposed. To analysis the influence of process parameters on material removal rateand surface quality and to study brittle-ductile transition conditions of aluminosilicate glass. The workcan provide a basic technical support for the development and large-scale industrialization of HDdisplay panel glass. The main work and results are as follows:1. The research of mechanical properties and brittle-ductile transition conditions for HD displaypanel glass based on nano-indentation and nano-scratch. To identify critical load and critical scratchdepth, its hardness and elastic modulus measured by nano-indentation, fracture toughness calculatedby Vickers hardness and the brittle-ductile transition conditions tested by nano-scratch. Comparedwith critical scratch depth calculated by experience formulas.2. Lapping experimental and technology optimization for HD display panel glass. Orthogonalexperiment was designed and W14diamond fixed-abrasive lapping pad was adopted to lap HD displaypanel glass. Analyzing the influence of every factor at different levels on the material removal rateand roughness, to identify the most excellent process parameters and validation.3. The mould of IFA was designed and prepared by polyurethane material. Iced fixed Al2O3andiced fixed silica sol plate was prepared to polish HD glass display panel. Obtained sub-nanometerultra-smooth surface and comparatively analyzed the optimal process parameters. The experimentalresults show that the iced fixed silica sol plate can obtain better quality than iced fixed Al2O3plate,whether polishing efficiency or polishing effect. Integrated optimization of process parameters of icedfixed silica sol polishing and analyzed polishing mechanism.
