The wireless location technology based on time difference of arrival (TDOA) iswidely used in military defense construction, intelligent transportation and car navigationso on. With the development of science and technology, wireless location technologybased on TDOA will be applied to everyday life. Time delay estimation is the core ofTDOA wireless location technology, and it is a hot spot for scholars to study how toimprove the accuracy of time delay estimation and apply it to wireless positioning systemeffectively both at home and abroad. So this paper focuses on the basic principle andmethod of time delay estimation algorithm based on TDOA wireless positioning,moreover, combined with LMS adaptive filter, secondary relevant theory and Hilberttransform, the basic algorithm was improved and optimized.Firstly, the principle of TDOA time delay estimation is briefly analyzed in this paper,and the signal model of TDOA time delay estimation is presented. Then, five basic timedelay estimation methods are studied in detailed, furthermore, and simulations are carriedout for GCC and LMS, and the relationship between the several basic methods wasproved.Secondly, for the problem of time delay precision, a time delay estimation algorithmbased on LMS generalized Hilbert related difference is proposed according to the researchon the time delay estimation method, and computer simulation is carried out by using thisnew algorithm to verify the estimation performance of the algorithm.Finally, for the lack of the algorithm based on LMS generalized related Hilbertdifference, optimization is made by transforming the fixed step LMS adaptive filter into avariable step LMS adaptive filter. A time delay estimation algorithm, which is based onvariable step size LMS generalized quadratic associated Hilbert difference, was proposedin this paper, and simulation verification is made for the optimized algorithm to prove itseffectiveness and performance superiority.
