With the development of electronic technique and information processingmethod in recent years, the research of radar and communication techniques hasmade great progress, which is widely applied in the fields of national defense andcivilian. In modern electronic countermeasures, the multi-function and high stabilityrequirements for electronic equipment have been put forward by combat platformwhile the demands in wartime are beyond the reach of the traditional single-functionelectronic equipment facing tough tasks and complicated electronic environment.Simply increasing in the type and number of electronic equipments not only costsmore on space and energy, but also aggravates the complexity of electronicevironment. Therefore the research on the integration of numerous electronicequipments on combat platform comes into being as the hot topic in moderninformation technique. Integration of special function electronic equipment onmobile platform, e.g. to fulfill muti-function by single electronic platform, improvesboth the flexibility and universality of equipment as well as save the need for space,which means a lot for the air combat platform.This paper focuses on embedding the communication function into the air battleplatform radar system, and realizes radar system type communication onUSRP(Universal Software Radio Peripheral, USRP) software radio hardwareequipment, with the consideration of characteristic of doppler radar onboard.Besides, due to the high speed of warcraft platform, the influence caused by rapidlychanging doppler shift should be removed.In the design of radar type communication, the first step is to summarize thestudy experience and research status home and abroad, based on which thefeasibility of data transmission by pulse doppler radar is elaborated combining thestructural features of radar and communication system. The analysis of the workingmode of doppler radar is given, a fit integrated signal source is designed to preventproper data trigger from missing. Further more, the modulation and demodulationmethods on data links of radar type communication are studied with the dopplershift resisted utilizing the joint of double differential phase shift keying andorthogonal frequency division multiplexing modulation and demodulationtechnology. The simulation result proves its outstanding characteristic against thedoppler shift. Studying the open-source software radio and the scheme of universalsoftware radio peripheral, this paper discusses the way to realize radar typecommunication utilizing GNU Radio combined with USRP hardware equipment,including the design of pulse trigger signal source and the communicatio n link design to remove doppler shift.The ultimate experiment verifies that the proposed system possesses the abilityto communicate in the way of pulse doppler radar, and the doppler shift eliminationperformance is satisfied for the transmitted data can be received properly whencarrier frequency shift is added. But the double differential phase shift keyingdecreases the SNR of the system.
