Frequency Selective Surface,which is referred to FSS, is concerned as a microwavedevices in recent years. It can be used as a filter by resonance effect in a certainfrequency range. This paper focuses on this hot research topic, and carries out a rangestudy on electric controlled frequency selective surface based on the traditional passivefrequency selective surface.Firstly, the physical realization of filtering mechanisms of frequency selectivesurfaces is discussed in this paper. It describes the classification and basic configurationof FSS, and chooses the square ring as the basic configuration as it has more favorableperformances of all aspects. It designs unit model of electric controlled frequencyselective surface and the corresponding bias feed network, and analysis its filteringproperties, the incident angle stability and polarization stability by simulation.Furthermore it achieves adjustable center resonant frequency by adjusting the biasvoltage.Then, the electromagnetic wave absorption/reflection electrically controllablefrequency selective surface is designed in this paper. It can change the absorption andreflection by adjusting the bias on and off, and achieved adjustable absorbing frequencyby changing the numerical size of the bias voltage. This paper also analysis thesensitivity of incident angle and polarization of the structure by simulation. Theelectromagnetic wave absorption/reflection electrically controllable frequency selectivesurfaces can be used in radomes of strategic weapons, and achieves flexible switch ofstealth and non-stealth. Therefore it realizes the target detection discriminatory of us andenemies, and has a very important practical significance.Finally, the electrically controllable frequency selective surface is applied inmicrostrip antenna to realize miniaturization. This paper extracts the constitutiveparameters of metamaterial based on electrically controllable frequency selectivesurface. Two miniaturized antenna model are designed at the peak frequency of theequivalent permittivity and permeability. It analyses the resonant frequency and theradiation characteristics of the antenna. Furthermore the electrically tunable centerresonance frequency is studied. The results show that the extraordinary media featuresof metamaterial can be greatly improve the degree of miniaturization of the antenna. Sothis paper has a very important theoretical significance to the study of miniaturizedantenna.This paper makes a series studies of electrically controllable frequency selectivesurface and its applications on electromagnetic wave absorption/reflection filter andminiaturized antenna by a complete theory, design and simulation. It first proposes theelectromagnetic absorption/reflection electrically controllable frequency selective surface and electrically controllable miniaturized microstrip antenna based on frequencyselective surface. It has a very important innovation significance, and provides someguidance for future research in this field.
