In this paper, we research the stealth design of Vivaldi Antenna and its’ array. We get a Vivaldiantenna with great stealth characteristic based on a typical antenna that suits the requirements ofengineering application. Then we focus on slove the problems that appeared, get two radiation andscattering properties of the same outstanding stealth Vivaldi antenna, and processing test. We designthe stealth Vivaldi antenna array by using the stealth Vivaldi antenna units. The specific researchcontents include:(1) Firstly, we design a typical Vivaldi antenna and processing test. We analyse the associatedradiating and scattering characteristics, including the S11, gain and radar cross section (RCS), arepresented.(2) And then, based on the difference of the current distribution on the metal patch when theantenna radiates or scatters, the shape of the patch is modified so that the electromagnetic scattering issignificantly decreased in a wide angle range within the entire operating band. A radar cross section(RCS) reduction as large as14dBsm but the gain of the antenna is unstable, so we modify the design.Then we get two stealth Vivaldi antennas with great radiation and scattering properties. After researchthe radiation and scattering characteristics of two stealth Vivaldi antennas, results show in the X bandrange, the antennas’ radiation characteristics fit the engineering application requirements and RCSreduction significantly, maximum were reduce15dBsm and19.2dBsm. The RCS reductions are allin the X band range.(3) Finally, we make use of the antenna radiation and scattering inherent in wave pathdifference, let the antenna array on the ladder, make the antenna reflected back to the electromagneticwave and the incident electromagnetic wave coherent offset. In does not affect the performance ofantenna radiation effectively reduce the RCS of antenna array. So as to achieve antenna array ofstealth design purpose, and study this kind of stealth universality of thought we prosposed.In this paper, the stealth design thought foucus on Vivaldi antenna and its’ array has strongpracticability and universality. The thought has a broad application prospect.
