Networked control system (NCS) is a kind of control system in whichdata was communicated by real-time network. The sensor, controller andactuator are connected by network to be a close-loop control system. Thesemake it different from common control systems. Networked control systemhas many advantages such as low cost, simple connection, flexibleconfiguration convenient maintenance and sharing information. NCS hasbecome one of the hot spots of control theory and control engineering.Although the wide-range using of network makes controlling large distributesystems more convenient, there are still some disadvantages such asnetwork-induced time delay, packet drops cause of the objective factors suchas bandwidth limitation. These phenomenons may degrade performance ofsystems, even take instability. This paper is concerned with the networkedpredictive control design of networked control systems with network-induceddelay in both forward and feedback channels. A novel networked predictivecontrol (NPC) approach is proposed to compensate the effects ofnetwork-induced delay. The main contents can be divided into the following three parts:(1) Networked control systems use network for communication.Network allows packed data to be sent at one time. So model predictivecontrol can generate series of control signals each step. Networked predictivecontrol (NPC) has both advantages of network and model predictive control.(2) Typical networked predictive control approach only uses theknown information of “Past” and “Now”. However, in NPC a part of“Futrue” control signals have been known. In response to this feature, thispaper proposed an improved networked predictive control approachoriginally. Numerical simulation results show that approach proposed in thispaper improved the system performances compared to traditional methods.(3) Comparing the simple environment of the numerical simulation, the real network environment has more complex situation. In order toverify the validity of the proposed method, this paper uses the improvednetworked predictive control approach to do experiment in the NetConnetworked control systems.
