Values has been a hot topic of social scientists. It’s also a problem of concern in the field of psychology. Work values is professional attitudes and beliefs when people choose job, are in the process of choosing a career shows a kind of value orientation, it is the embodiment of values in the improper behavior. Professional values is an important component of values, also can called "professional", "vocational value orientation", and other terms to describe. Different values of people chosen work in thousands ways, so the performance of improper behavior also vary. This study aims to develop suitable scale for postgraduate professional values and to explore the characteristics of the work values of postgraduate. In combination with the famous work values inventory items, based on the distribution of 45 open questionnaire and in-depth interviews for part of the master graduate student, we choose 67 title of the initial questionnaire. Early phase measurement, a total of 355 questionnaires, the use of the professional values of effective recovery of data exploratory factor analysis and inspection letter validity of the questionnaire. Filtered through exploratory factor analysis to questionnaire items and, eventually formed the occupational values of postgraduate formal scale, the scale has altogether 27 problem and seven dimensions: salary, benefits, self-development, calm, free, professional compatibility, organizational culture, position, reputation. By the analysis of the internal consistency coefficient of scale. 869, 1/2 reliability coefficient reached. 789, explains the questionnaire reliability is good. This research from various dimensions and the total score of related to structure validity, reliability and validity of the scale is good. The results of confirmatory factor analysis also proves the rationality of the scale again.This study used the self-made scale to test 452 postgraduates from 5 universities in formal testing, work values of postgraduate characteristics are:(1) the current graduate student in the process of career choice is more practical, have many good to future career expectation, show the weight the tendency of "personal" and "society", the most attention is the development of itself, as well as the professional salary, benefits, work the sense of freedom, the organizational culture is more and more high request, easy to work the attention of stable status and prestige in the secondary position.(2) graduate students in the professional value orientation of different gender, there are differences. Male graduate student pay more attention to the social status and prestige of the work, while female graduate student pay more attention to stability and comfort.(3) the key colleges and universities students in the professional value orientation on paying more attention to the development of self and career and the degree of match their own interests and hobbies, than ordinary colleges and universities graduate student care more about the prestige and status of the work unit.(4) whether to participate in social practice during the period of school of master graduate student of vocational values have deep influence. Have any practical experience full-time graduate students in the professional values of each dimension and non-participate in social practice graduate students have significant differences. Social practice experience of graduate student’s professional values more reasonable, they pay more attention to the development of itself, and could combine itself with the social needs. Students without practice experience valued work salary, benefits and easy stable, professional value orientation is too "ideal".(5) students of different family where there are significant differences on professional values. Master graduate student of countryside to pay more attention to salary, benefits, and the graduate student is more concerned with stability and status of the town.Through the concrete analysis of the characteristics of the professional values of postgraduate, this study puts forward the following Suggestions on governments at all levels and the universities, the government should create a good social environment, alleviate the employment pressure of graduates of postgraduate, actively provide employment services for them. Colleges and universities have to shift their concept of the cultivation of the postgraduate students are encouraged to actively put into social practice. Graduate student has to break the "self-centered", actively participate in social practice, to enhance their social skills, change their view of the training "ordinary workers" mentality, will own development with society and the needs of the country.
