Because of the present employment situation, civil servants have become the main career choice for many university students. It is not only the personal employment, but also the social tendency of choosing jobs. Deeper causes of this phenomenon will influence the aspiration even the final action. Therefore, in the context of“civil servant examination fever”,this study uses statistical methods to find how motivations influence aspiration. Based on the questionnaires of 669 university students with factor analysis, descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing and regression analysis,the study has found:First,university students applying motivation includes seven common factors: achievement and dedication,occupational reputation, stabilization,occupational prospects, skilled adaptation,competition and employment environment.Second, in the study of the influence of demographics and preferences on the applying motivation and applying aspiration found that, there is significant difference on the gender, subject,political preference, risk preference,political status,native place,grade,family situation and mother’s educational background. However,there is no significant difference with father’s educational background.Third, university students’ applying motivation is positively related to applying aspiration. Furthermore,motivation of skilled adaptation, achievement and dedication,competition and employment environment could predict applying aspiration obviously.Finally,according to the empirical results, making suggestions from the point of universities and governments in order to make university guide scientifically and governments recruit and select reasonably.
