Application Of Data Mining In Results Prediction

With the development of information society, information storm which is brought by big data is changing our life,working and thinking style.Students participating in online diploma education are learning through accessing resources, online homework, interactive discussions and examinations,they also left or generated a lot of useful data and information in various types of management and learning systems.But these data was only stored in systems,didn’t play its true role.Through appropriate data analysis techniques to these data and information, we could obtain useful knowledge, find relevant disciplines, and then provide useful basis for decision making, programming all aspects of online learning, optimizing processes for teaching management,improving the quality of teaching and changing the design of educational software.All of these are inevitable demands for sustainable development of online education.In this study,by using data classification technology in data mining,we analyzed the related data of students who had already taken the English unified examination in the school of continuing education and e-learning,found the regular pattern which can influence the results of the English unified examination,and formed the corresponding prediction rules,realized the appropriate prediction system.By analyzing the results of the English unified examination twice after using the system, respectively verified the accuracy and effectiveness of the system.Then,interviewed with the outside school learning centers’ managers to know how they feel about the system.Finally,given the questionnaires to managers to explore factors that affect managers using the system to know the direction for system improvements in future.In this study,the English unified examination is the final assessment of English proficiency for the online education students,it’s one of the conditions related to online education students are able to obtain electronic registration qualifications of higher education certificate in the ministry of education.The English unified examination prediction system designed in this study realized the score prediction for the English unified examination,it’s an attempt and exploration to find the useful knowledge hidden in students learning on online education learning system by using data mining.The score prediction of English unified examination can provide evidence for the outside school learning centers’ managers given warning to online education students,and also can provide reference for personal service in English study,and the realization of mining to a particular course in the following study.
